Dear german Members of the world wide Tückmantel-Family,
in 1862 Carl R. Tückmantel und Bertha Broch left Solingen to build their family a better future and a home in Brazil. They left their homeland for a new hope. If I’m not wrong, the progeny of Carl and Bertha in Brazil today nearly outnumbers the Tückmantels in Germany. Given that the name Tückmantel, Tueckmantel or Tuckmantel is quite seldom, we can suppose, that we are not only are world wide family in the figurative sense.
Today it is Paulo H. Tuckmantel Dias, who gives us Tückmantels in Germany the opportunity, to get a bit closer again. Not only here on facebook and the internet, but in real life. Paulo and his mother will arrive on May, 29th 2011, in Frankfurt. Silke and me will pick them up at the airport and take them to their hotel in Düsseldorf. If arrival and transport take place as scheduled, we could have a first meeting on sunday night at the old town in Düsseldorf. We will meet at the Uerige (have a look here:www.uerige.de) about 20.00 pm.
So you are all invited make the Step from Facebook to real life and join us. And anyone, who speaks Brazilian will be even more welcomed, because Paulo does neither speak German nor English. So we will have a conversation by feet and hands, pantomine, point-it-books and the Google-Translator on iPad and iPhone. Come on, this will be fun! Let us give the Tueckmantels from Brazil a warm welcome to the home of their ancesters.
A second get together of german and brazilian Tückmantels could take place on Ascension Day (german: Christi Himmelfahrt), June 2th. Because this is a bank holiday in germany, we could meet at Schloss Burg in Solingen, which is the place of origin to the history of the so called „Bergisches Land“. On Ascension Day there will be historical Knight-Games on Schloss Burg, that will give a great framework to our family-meeting (find more on www.schlossburg.de/nc/de/veranstaltungen/ritterspi
To let all that happen we have to organize quick, because maybe reservations have to be made in case you would like to have a original „Bergische Kaffeetafel“ or something like that to celebrate our encounter.
